Ngaanyatjarraku Shire Early Year’s Program.

(Video Production)

“An insight into the Warburton community playgroup. An essential service provided for newborns – 4-year-olds aimed at giving the parents the responsibility for getting their children ready for school” (ICTV on-screen introduction to the documentary).

Produced by Mystery Lane Media, Australia. (2016).

This video documentary, initiated by local community leaders, shares the Warburton community playgroup program with families and educators living and working in Indigenous communities across Australia via the ICTV (Indigenous Community TV) live-streaming platform.

Showcasing the families and children participating in the activities of the playgroup, with this documentary, I explain how and why the activities contribute to the purpose of the playgroup for both family adults and children so that through shared participation in the playgroup with their families, the young children are prepared for the activities and routines of school.

Note from Anne :

This informative video was made at Warburton, the largest community within the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, and in the Shire’s purpose-built centre for the playgroup program.

Produced by Mystery Lane Media, the documentary was built around an interview with me about various aspects of the playgroup program, including its beginnings in 1995 and development over the years across the Ngaanyatjarra communities.

From 2008, playgroups across the Ngaanyatjarra communities were operated through the Early Years Program of the Ngaanyatjarraku Shire, based at Warburton, where, from 2008 to 2019, my role was as the Early Years Program Coordinator for the Shire.

In 2023, this video documentary is still available on the ICTV link above.
